Kicking off the Official 2007 Season! It's been a looong winter. There were three Slush events and all three were fun even if they were wet and cold. This year I'm co-driving with John in his brand new 1999 Mazda Miata 10AE. Brand new? Yeah, he found the thing garaged by grandma with only 1100 miles on it!!!

I kicked off the season with a dirty day. All three runs had a cone on them so my placement is pretty low, but I think this will be a good season overall.

I'll post the course map and results link when they are available (and I get time).

Which Sports Car Are You?

This was a fun little test. Check it out. Also, I'll be posting images from the Packwood ProSolo within the next 48 hours.

I'm a Ferrari 360 Modena!

You've got it all. Power, passion, precision, and style. You're sensuous, exotic, and temperamental. Sure, you're expensive and high-maintenance, but you're worth it.

BSCC Event #5

Aahhh!!! Time flies! I haven't updated this blog lately but this weekend is an event in Everett and I hope to have pics, etc. from that. A quickie about the July 2 event and July 4 practice: they were a blast.

The July 2 event, "BSCC Event #5" kicked my butt. It was a pretty challenging course that absolutely nailed you if you forgot the cardinal rule of "look ahead" for even one turn. It felt like a one minute slalom. I loved it though because it definitely helped me pinpoint some obvious errors in my driving. On the 4th, it was just a practice, but with hardly anyone showing we were able to get a total of 23 runs in for the day!!! Slam! With some generous tutoring and course walking with Karl Coleman, I was able to see where I messed up on Sunday. Karl also took my Honda out for a couple of runs, and that was a blast. That guy can hug those cones! I think I had the most fun yet at those two events (eh, maybe tied with Oversteer/Understeer which was pretty awesome).

Here's the course map for both days:

Lastly, I got new Falken Azenis RT-615's on my Accord, so I am amped to see what I can do with those!

NWR/SCCA - SCCA Regional #3

We left around 9:45am from Mill Creek for Bremerton Airport. We made pretty good time because traffic was low and we pretty much did an open 70 the whole way. It was raining for the drive south. Once a little past Seattle, it slowly stopped but I didn't get my hopes up too much since we had to head back north once we hit Tacoma. Even though the rain picked back up, it fizzled out by the time we arrived.

This being our first time there, we missed the turn off and pulled into the airport to get directions. It turns out you have to get off a bit before the airport, taking a couple back roads to the location, even though it's at the airport.

John and I ran first and worked second (drive first, work the course second). The day was pretty dry for the runs, and it started to drizzle a bit at the end of the first runs. But that didn't last long at all. Grace came along and took the photos, but crashed fell asleep in the car after we did our runs.

We got three runs and they went pretty smoothly, but I hit two cones in my second run, and one cone in my third. Not bad, but a little dissappointing. Either way, it was a lot of fun. Grace mentioned a Porsche did a spin-out...I missed that one.

After our three runs, we worked the course and things got pretty exciting. There were three good spin-outs, two of which happened right in front of me. I forget the first, the second was a white Miata. The third was totally wild. The car lost control coming up to the finish gate and spun out and nailed the timing lights with their rear tires. I was about 300 meters away, so I can't swear by the details on that one. All I can say for sure is the timing light launched about 10 feet+ into the air. Fortunately the timing light was fine.

Welcome!

I am a Novice to autocrossing and I am completely hooked. I had talked about trying it for some time with my friends John and Giancarlo, but always put it off since all I have is a stock 93' Honda Accord DX. Well, I finally said to hell with it and attended the NWR/SCCA 2006 Novice Class at the Everett Boeing parking lot.
Wow.
I would never have thought my putt-putt Honda could be that much fun! The class was on a Saturday and I immediately attended the race they were having the following day. Again, I had an incredible time. I have just returned from an autocross I went to in Bremerton at the airfield and decided that making this blog would be a great way to share the fun I'm having and also a good hub for me to keep track of my progress and events with descriptions and photos. Hopefully, at some point I would post videos... we'll see.
If you're here because you know me, I hope you enjoy seeing what I am enjoying, and if you don't know me and happened upon this blog, I hope you can see how exciting autocrossing can be and perhaps pursue it yourself.

PS- The first couple of posts will be done as if they were posted shortly after the respective event, even though it has been up to a month since I went, just to catch up to where I currently am.
